In the Pipeline …

editor deskHi all, just an update on all that has been going on with the site of late.

I just finished shooting Videos #27 and #28 in my on going training series.  Now to get them edited in the post production phase of this.  Expect them available in a few days.  They will be available in HD 720p for those that want to watch it that way on the You Tube.  If you are a current subscriber to the videos, I will send out an email with the updated links when they are ready to go.  (Holy Crap, that series is approaching 7 hours now!!)

Up coming next week is an article on using APL test patterns on your plasma TV.  The results should be interesting to say the least and they were not quite even what I expected to see.  That’s next week.

Just up yesterday is my talk with a recent former employee of the Best Buy/Future Shop big box stores.  It is an interesting read and possibly enlightening too depending on how you look at it.  Things are potentially a lot worse than even we thought.

New E-Book download.  I created an E-book titled “Video Calibration From The Inside.”  It is about 50 pages and is a revised compilation of my articles geared for the beginners and people just new to the calibration world.  Best of all, it is free to download and you are encouraged to share it with your friends.  Good knowledge is hard to find.

My Beginners Guide to the site is up now and it is geared to those new to the site and the calibration world.  I have separated the articles up based on subject matter and experience level.  Now people can better get to the articles that are aimed at them faster.  Less guess work, although I would like everyone to read every last article on the site.  😀

If you want to have some fun, try out my Calibration Challenge Quiz that I have set up now.  42 questions that really test your knowledge about real time calibration.  I think it is great for the DIYer that comes in thinking he already knows what he is doing.  If you know it all, then take the Quiz … you should ace it.  🙂

Lastly, if you are looking for professional calibration services and are not in my sphere of influence, please visit the TLVEXP portal as that leads to a number of calibration professionals that should be able to treat you right.  I’m trying to coax some of them to write stuff for the site as well.

That’s it for the moment … back to editing the videos.

Oh yes, if anyone wants to offer up some suggestions and ideas for new videos they would like to see me do, put those suggestions here.  Can’t promise that I can do them, but you never know.

On the Docket for future consideration … so far …

  • Michael,

Thanks for the videos and all the effort you are putting into educating people of calibration, I have enjoyed your videos. I was just about to email you about possibly doing a video using APL patterns on a Plasma as it seems a lot of people including myself struggle with especially with older Plasma’s and gamma. Obviously everyone has there own theories on what process to take but I respect a professionals opinion, I in no way can dispute right or wrong with out knowledge and experience.

Looking forward to the next video!

  • Greetings Tony,

    You are welcome.

Now as for the videos … I am often limited in what I can and can’t do based on the equipment that I have at home and at my disposal. I have one plasma set in the home and don’t have easy access to all other models on a whim, sorry to say. For the moment, a straight video with me using apl patterns instead is going to be a tad boring … as you will see when you read the upcoming article.

Still the results of the article don’t exactly preclude me doing a video version of it … shot from my master bedroom. Think of it as the audiobook version of the article itself. Will see.

    Regards
