(March 30, 2014 - 2:39 pm)I am looking at doing your video training and had a few ?. Do you go thru all phases of the calman software? I have 5.3 . Also I won a C6 meter , should I keep my i1 pro REV D [ used 4 times ] for profiling ? Spectracal said the C6 is so good it is not necessary . Thanks for any Info and input .

(March 31, 2014 - 12:28 am)The training videos teach people the fundamentals of the calibration process. As calibration has been going on for more than 20 years, it more than pre-dates the Calman software. The training video is not a “how to use calman” video. As you are taught the concepts in calibration, when completed, one should be able to apply what they learned to any software be it HCFR, Chromapure and yes, Calman too. It is like teaching people about the fundamentals of a car oil change. There is a filter … there is oil … there is a drain plug under the car … etc. If you understand this, you should be able to apply it to any car you may encounter. One does not need a specific lesson on a Ford Mustang alone. Calman as software comes with many workflows / templates to do calibration. They can be geared to the novice or the seasoned professional. There can be more than 20 permutations of this making specific training videos based on each one problematic. Take the 36 videos and redo each one 20 to 30 times to accommodate each permutation of Calman … not happening.
The videos teach you how to fish … not how to catch only one specific kind of fish.
The Calman template used in some of the videos is a custom one designed for the THX class. This does not come with the software. The calibration process is much more than just software and hardware. In fact, the software and hardware only get used in 20-30% of the process. Given that reality, if you mess up the 70% portion, it no longer matters how good the software and hardware is. The software will never know if you did that 70% correctly.
